Magic Formula
Jan 12 by Brad Sullivan
Wouldn't
it be nice if someone were to come up with the magic formula for
teaching the gospel? Could you imagine being able to have the
success that Peter and the rest of the Apostles had on the day of
Pentecost? We can even look around the world today and find
places where the church seems to be growing by leaps and bounds and we
tell ourselves, "we need to find out what they are doing", so that we
can have that same level of success where we are. I recently had
a conversation with a man who, along with the other members of the
local church, is having a lot of success in bringing the lost to
Christ. In a sense, I was seeking that 'magic formula' that would
help me to have more success in my evangelistic efforts and guess
what? I found it!! I have finally found, and at this time
am ready to share with you, the 'magic formula' that can turn you into
a teaching machine! I didn't record the phone conversation so I
will not be able to provide you with the exact, word for word, details
that I received, but I don't think anything will get lost in
translation. Are you ready for this life altering

I
think I should stop driving. No, I am not too old to drive and can
still handle the 5-speed transmission in my truck, but I am tired of
the rules. There are so many rules governing the use of automobiles.
Before I can even turn the key I am expected to have a driver's
license, tag, and insurance. Once all of that is taken care of I can
buckle up (another rule!) and begin to drive, but can I drive where I
want? Certainly not! Though I might like to try the left side of the
road, I am forced to drive on the right side of the road, and just as I
get up to speed, the traffic light turns red and I have to stop. I
could go on and on with rules about speed limits, solid yellow lines,
turn signals, amount of tread on tires, parking regulations, and a host
of other rules. Do you understand why I might think it is time to stop
driving? Read MoreTo Be Stirred
By Kevin Strickland
Paul would remind Timothy “to stir up the gift of God which is in you…”
(
II Tim. 1:6). This would be Paul’s encouragement to Timothy to
keep him mindful that “God has not given us spirit of fear, but of
power and of love and of a sound mind.” Those things God has
given us are of a nature that cannot sit and be still. We have
been given that which cannot be hidden, but at times we conduct our
lives in a way that it does. Of course we sin, and fall short
occasionally, but there needs to be the standing up again and
committing ourselves to him who judges righteously.
